Rules
The visa photo poster asks for 33 mm by 48 mm. Head height, chin to crown, is 28–33 mm. Head width is 15–22 mm. The top of the head sits about 3–5 mm below the top edge, and the chin is at least 7 mm above the bottom. The digital poster range is 354×472 up to 420×560, JPEG, 40–120 KB, 24-bit colour. The upload FAQ says the file cannot exceed 354×472. We use 354×472.
Eyes are at least 256 pixels up from the bottom of that 354×472 file. The face is neutral, lips closed, both ears visible. Tilt is within 20° left or right and 25° up or down. The checker fails roll only past 20°. It does not measure pitch in degrees.
White or near-white background, no frame. Clear glasses are allowed. Thick rims, tint, and glare are not. The photo is in colour and under 6 months old.
Do
- Keep both ears visible and your mouth closed.
- Use a white background and a JPEG between 40 and 120 KB.
- Hold your head within the poster’s 20° tilt limit.
Don't
- Do not upload a file larger than 354×472.
- Do not wear tinted lenses or thick frames.
